Downtown Neighbourhood Table — Advent Potluck
Sunday, 5:00pm • Church of Our Lord (626 Blanshard St)
Join us as we begin the season of Advent together with a special Downtown Neighbourhood Table gathering at Church of Our Lord. This evening will be a warm, relaxed mix of shared food, prayer, and community as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.
What Is Advent?
Advent is the four-week season leading up to Christmas when Christians slow down, watch, and prepare for the coming of Jesus — both celebrating his birth and longing for his return. It’s a season of hope, reflection, and expectation.
If you’re new to it, you’re in good company. Come and learn with us.
Potluck Theme: “What on Rice?”
We’ll provide the rice — you bring your favourite topping, sauce, or flavour combo to share.
Think: curries, stir-fry veggies, roasted meats, tofu, beans, stews, chutneys, kimchi, pickles, herbs, you name it.
Simple or fancy — all welcome.
What to Expect
A shared meal (kid-friendly, low-pressure potluck)
Time to connect with neighbours and newcomers
A short Advent reflection and prayer with advent songs to sing
Space to slow down as the season begins
Special Kids Program lead by Lindsey
